Performance Based Facade Design 2026

Why I decided to launch Facade and Building Jobs

When I launched Facade Today, I was convinced there was a hidden value in the world of façades. Facade and Building Jobs is a direct extension of that conviction.

Façades shape the identity of our cities, define how we perceive streets and skylines, and often become the visual signature of a project. Yet façades are far more than beautiful envelopes. They are now central to the energy performance of buildings, to comfort, and to the way architecture interacts with its environment.

Today, a façade can be packed with technology. It can host sensors, shading systems, active skins, and responsive materials. It can adapt to climate, light, and use. Behind these solutions there is a community of talented, ambitious, and inspired people. Without them, façades would remain static and mute.

Facade and Building experts

Façade designers, building engineers, and specialists in structural glass, acoustics, or fire all play a crucial role. Alongside them work BIM experts, software developers, project managers, and digital modellers. Manufacturers, consultants, service providers, and the wider world of construction professionals on site and in offices also belong to this ecosystem. Together they form a remarkably dynamic ecosystem that is often invisible in public debates. What the public sees is the finished façade. What we see is the network of skills, decisions, and innovations behind it.

Beyond Facade Today: a living façade community

The project of Facade Today has always been to focus on this hidden part of the iceberg. We try to highlight technological intelligence, material science, and responsible practices. But Facade Today is not only a magazine. It has gradually become a community. Over time, several thousand professionals have joined our network: architects, façade and structural engineers, BIM managers, project developers, manufacturers, and specialist contractors. These professionals do much more than read articles. They train, attend conferences, share their projects, promote new approaches, and challenge established habits. Driven by an innovative mindset, they experiment with new materials, new tools, and new forms of collaboration. They exchange knowledge across borders and across disciplines and they are constantly looking for new skills and new partners. The energy that emerges from this community is extraordinary.

Lost in the noise of recruitment

Very often, some of them contact me directly. They ask me if I can recommend them to an employer. Sometimes they are actively looking for a new position. Sometimes they are simply curious and open to a conversation. I have always been honoured by this trust. But I also knew that my role was not to act as an informal recruitment agency.

Hiring teams in the façade and building sector need the right profiles, not more noise.

From overflowing inboxes to empty shortlists in the façade and building world

At the same time, I regularly speak with employers: engineering offices, architects, specialist contractors, and manufacturers. Many of them share the same frustration. When they post a job on the large generalist platforms, they receive a huge volume of applications. A significant part of these applications are off-topic. Some recruiters tell me that more than ninety percent of the CVs do not match the profile. Filtering this volume is time-consuming and discouraging.

On the other side, external recruitment agencies can help, but they also face a shortage of very specific skills. And their services are expensive, which is not always compatible with the reality of project-based businesses.

What can I say about social media? Yes, social media posts can offer some visibility, but they disappear quickly in the news feed. After a few days, they are no longer seen by the right people.

When conventional hiring tools fall short

I remember a recent conference where this issue came up in a very concrete way. A participant told me how powerless he felt with current recruitment channels. He was the head of a Swiss subsidiary and wanted to attract fire safety specialists, including experts from abroad. The offer was attractive, the projects were interesting, and the company had a solid reputation. Yet the recruitment channels he could use were simply not adapted to his needs. They were either too dispersed, limited to his local geography, or far too expensive for the level of certainty they provided. He felt he was shouting without being heard, without reaching the professionals who actually understand fire safety for façades.

Facade and Building Jobs: born from the community, for the community

From these conversations, an idea started to take shape. Why not create a dedicated place where façade and building professionals looking for a job can meet teams that recruit in this niche? Why not build a job platform that is aligned with the community that has grown around Facade Today?

This is how Facade and Building Jobs was born.

The platform focuses entirely on our sector and lists roles for façade and building engineers, architects and designers, BIM specialists, project managers, production managers, and more. Interest from both employers and candidates is strong, with positions already published in dozens of countries.

For candidates, the interface stays simple and clear. For recruiters, it is efficient and specialised. Posting a job is quick, and each job listing reaches a highly targeted audience.

Facade and Building Jobs offers recruiting teams a streamlined, easy‑to‑use interface for finding the right talent.

For professionals, searching is intuitive and filtered by domain, level of experience, and geography. The aim is not to create just another generic job site. The aim is to create a specialised tool that understands the realities of our industry.

Candidates can search via different filters like listed companies, job entries, countries, roles, etc.

Our most valuable feature: the confidential Talent Pool
Invisible to the public, visible to the right employers

One particular feature is especially important to me: the talent pool. This is a confidential space where professionals can leave their CV or profile even if they are not yet actively looking. They may simply be open to an opportunity or curious about what the market can offer. Employers who post a job can access this pool to identify profiles that correspond to their needs. The talent pool is designed with discretion in mind. Candidates do not see the profiles of other registered professionals. Their presence in the pool is not public. This point matters for those who prefer not to change their LinkedIn profile or announce a potential move before they decide. It lets them explore options while they still protect their current position.

For employers, this talent pool is a way to reduce noise. Instead of sorting through hundreds of irrelevant applications, they can focus on a smaller group of people who have explicitly expressed an interest in the façade and building sector. It saves time and increases the chances of a real match.

A new chapter for façade and building careers

Launching Facade & Building Jobs is, in a way, a natural extension of Facade Today. The magazine highlights projects, technologies, and ideas. The job board connects people and careers. Both are based on the same conviction: façades and buildings deserve a dedicated space, because they bring together an exceptional concentration of expertise and creativity.

Candidates who prepare well perform better. On the job board, they find practical tools for assessment preparation and curated lifelong learning resources that help them stand out and increase their chances of success.

This new chapter will be built collectively, through the needs of employers, the ambitions of candidates, and the contributions of the community. My role is to provide the platform, make it visible, and keep it aligned with the spirit of Facade Today: specialised, curious, and focused on quality.

I am excited to see how this initiative will evolve. I hope it will help you find your next colleague, your next project, or perhaps your next professional adventure.

Facade and Building Jobs features a constantly refreshed selection of façade and building roles across many countries and regions.
